Your lovely music was wonderful. Walking down the isle and seeing you with your gold harp was my dream come true.

- Irene Cummings

We were surprised that even though we had a outdoor wedding, the harp was loud and clear. In fact, several guests commented that this was the first time they had really been able to hear a harp.

- Bernadette Smyth

Your performance at our company party was excellent. We were so excited to have a musician from Princess Cruises, and you were the only harpist we had ever heard that played music everyone recognized. You even played all our requests!

- Karen Edmundson - IDDL Associates

I want to thank you for spending so much time consulting with us about song selections. Besides incorporating both our religions, your advice on how different ceremonies actually work was invaluable.

- Maria Henderson

Your Victorian Duo was magnificent. The combination of harp and flute was exquisite. Having a harp is special, but a harp and flute was even better.

-- Mandy Goldman

Wedding Ceremony Information

The ultimate in beautiful music for your wedding--whether large or small, indoors or outdoors, a Harp adds elegance to the most special day of your life. Victoria Hughes is experienced with weddings of all religions, and is happy to consult with you regarding your musical selections.

Prelude Music: One half-hour of music while your guests are assembling, allowing them to enjoy beautiful music before the ceremony begins.

Pre-Processional: Music of your choosing for everyone processing before the bride, including the bridesmaids, flower girls, ring bearers, as well as special music for the parents to be seated to.

Processional: The traditional Bridal March for the bride, or select from one of the many alternate wedding marches, or your favorite song.

Solo: Choose a special song to be played for the lighting of the Unity candle, communion, or during another reflective part of your ceremony.

Recessional: The traditional Wedding March to walk out to, or choose an alternate march or favorite piece.

Postlude: Festive music for your guests while they disassemble, or toast you with champagne.

All ceremonies and receptions can be performed on solo harp, or for larger gatherings, consider the Victorian Duo, a beautiful combination of either harp and flute, or harp and violin. Victoria can also accompany vocalists.

Victoria Hughes, harpist, has been playing professionally for over twenty years.

A native San Franciscan, she received her early training at the San Francisco Conservatory before being awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. During her years in the Washington, DC and Baltimore area, she played at all of the finest hotels, restaurants, and embassies.

Upon graduation, she was recruited by a luxury cruise liner, and featured nightly in her own cocktail lounge. In this setting, Victoria was able to utilize her unique talent of arranging well-known songs onto the harp. Her repertoire is extensive, and includes classical, popular standards, love songs, show tunes, contemporary pop, folk, and even swing!

Because of her arranging capabilities, Victoria is one of the few harpists that can actually take requests, just like a pianist. She believes in playing music that people know and recognize, whether it is a classical piece that is heard often on the radio, or a current pop hit. Requests are always welcomed.

Victoria also believes that there's no point in playing if you can't be heard. A small, but discreet, amplifier is brought to all events, and both her harps have electronic pick-ups on them, enabling her to be heard indoors or out.

With ten years experience performing on the best cruise lines, including Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line, and twenty years performing at weddings and parties both in the Washington, D.C. area, and her native San Francisco, Victoria Hughes is one of the most accomplished young commercial harpists performing today.
